I was late to the wedding because… the power went down!!

Today’s photographic concept started with the idea of candles. I could picture it in my mind… candles, the soft flames and delicate lighting. Add to that a fabulous venue like Jenolan Caves which gave us the opportunity to use a 1930’s theme that I have been dying to use in this series. Bridal Gown designer, Pina Vella had the most perfect gowns to complete the vision – the gorgeous bridal gown with the delicate brooch and finally the embroidered mantilla veil is absolutely amazing! Oh, and I can’t forget Sofia Rodi, whose makeup and hair skills were fabulous – especially loving the work on the hair!

The story was always to be about the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready in the Caves House Bridal Suite, when the power fails. With accessories still to be added the girls light candles which create a soft glow to the room. With the help of some lanterns they are able to find their way down to the caves to the ceremony.

Charlotte, our bride, was married a few months ago and after her friend Talitha took part of our fun fair shoot earlier in the year she was also keen to try something a little different. You may recognise Talitha as one of Charlotte’s bridesmaids and Jen, a friend of theirs came along as Charlotte’s 2nd bridesmaid. The girls did an amazing job in what was icy weather – I’m sure the temps in the caves were under 5 degrees.

I know I have mentioned them earlier but Jenolan Caves were fabulous – Domino, the Events Coordinator was so helpful and such a great host. I can assure you, the Jenolan Caves staff know how to look after you on your wedding day.
