I’m going to tell this story a little bit backwards, but it will all come together in the end.
As far as entrances go, Laura certainly made one. She arrived every inch the stunning bride but her mode of transport was far from the norm. Laura arrived to her wedding on horseback! Her gorgeous Gallery Serpentine Gown draped over the horse like a magnificent coat and akin to something from a fairytale movie she swept into shot to find her waiting prince.
The other most amazing thing about Laura and Mark’s wedding day was that they wanted it to be a ‘white wedding’ – and it was. This photographer had never seen snow before so not only can I now tick off that I’ve seen snow but I’ve also shot a snow wedding! Two major life goals in one day. Yay! In between takes I truly danced in the snow and tried to catch a flake or two on my tongue, it was just magical and Laura and Mark felt the same thrill as I did when the heavens sprinkled fine white powder from the sky while we had their post ceremony portraits. It was icy cold perfection!
Which brings me to the beginning. Mark and Laura had decided early in their planning that they wanted to be married in the snow. So after many weeks of searching they decided that Snowy Wilderness was to be the location for their big day. In her wedding vision, Laura knew that her most favourite colour purple would play a huge part and this rich colour motif features heavily in their celebrations.
Laura and her bridesmaids purchased and arranged their own flowers from local markets and one of the most wonderful features of the day was that the ceremony was framed by an amazing arch made of dried flowers with fresh purple accents. It was a rustic touch that added a real sense of occasion to their outdoor ceremony.
There is so may beautiful details from this wedding that I plan to do a second post to showcase these. In the meantime I am delighted to share these pictures with you. They are absolutely breathtaking. Falling snow, a rainbow, a stunning bride on horseback, magnificent shades of purple popping against a golden landscape and a beautiful couple who only had eyes for one another.
