We’ve had the pleasure of photographing some lovely backyard weddings in Sydney (including Sam and Glen’s which we videoed) and this one was no exception. What made it all the more exciting in our books was two very specific elements – a gaggle of gorgeous kids delighted to be part of Mum and Dad’s proceedings and an awesome steam punk theme! Double win!
The wedding location was at Kyle Bay and the location was truly to die for with waterfront views, a secret garden feel and a gorgeous marquee festooned with fairy lights that sparkled late into the night.
Both the bride and groom, David and Sonya wore Gallery Serpentine one of our favourite Australian designers. Y0u can see more wedding that we’ve shot where their clothes were featured here and here. The Steam Punk theme was inspired during Sonya and David’s planning process. They were enchanted by the fashions and decided that embracing this concept to its fullest encouraging all their guests to come in costume would make for one hell of a party – and it sure did! (If you are interested in Steam Punk you can check out another wedding of this theme we shot here…)
From a groom with a gun, to DIY flowers and vintage time pieces this wedding was rich in details and I urge you to look through the photos below and take in all the wonderful, off-beat elements that combined to make this day so special.
Celebrant Melissa Soncini officiated and we loved her approach, she not only celebrated Sonya and David’s union but the joining of two families which was truly a wonderful and inclusive touch.
What a beautiful day! The smiles were wide, the love was tangible and David and Sonya let their hair down and partied late into the night. Thank you for letting us be part of this amazing wedding. We wish you love and happiness and all things good ahead!
