I was late to the wedding because…
The latest instalment in our I was Late to the Wedding series is a fusion of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake and the modern movie release Black Swan.
It’s a story of love – and a story of loss. The beautiful swan is doomed, never to make it to her nuptials after being cursed by an evil witch. Her story is one of chaos and madness, a decline from both sanity and grace as she loses hope of being rescued by her lover and accepts her fate – trapped forever without salvation.
This fabulous concept was the brainchild of Lea Moate of Willow Tree Creative and it was our great pleasure to collaborate with her to achieve a set of images that could visually represent the story. The challenges in fine art photography are in capturing the moods of the protagonist and we are excited with the end result – sultry, moody and emotive.
Our collaboration has seen a beautiful, timeless story told in contemporary images. The aesthetic is bold and confronting, every picture represents a chapter of this evolving tale – capturing wistfulness, hopefulness, introspection, loss, anger and despair.

A little bit of STEAMPUNK to continue our series ‘I was late to the wedding.’
Have you heard of Steampunk?
Here’s how wikipedia explains it “Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction, alternate history, and speculative fiction that came into prominence during the 1980s and early 1990s.[1] Steampunk involves a setting where steam power is still widely used—usually the Victorian eraBritain—that incorporates elements of either science fiction or fantasy. Works of steampunk often feature anachronistictechnology or futuristic innovations as Victorians may have envisioned them; based on a Victorian perspective on fashion, culture, architectural style, art, etc. This technology may include such fictional machines as those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne.”
So there you have it… simple yes? lol! The idea is starting to pick up a little here in Australia, so I’m just puttin it out there… I would love to photograph any steampunk weddings you may have in the works
Hey even some steampunk portraits would be kinda cool – feel free to contact me about these too.
I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped out on the day. It’s been months in the planning and we did it! The rain held out and thank god it didn’t snow – even though it felt cold enough that it should!

There’s been a lot going on lately and unfortunately the blog posts seem to have suffered. So I will be attempting to make up for it over the coming weeks.
For now I thought I would share with you a sneak peek of the continuation of our “I was late to the wedding” series.
I’m putting the final touches on the images and the full post with all of images will be posted tomorrow.
Big thanks to all those involved: Irene who did our makeup; Kasia our star of the shoot; Lea from Willow Tree Creative Services; Gallery Serpentine who provided all of our steampunk-ness in accessories and clothing and our venue Lithgow State Mine Park – a massive thanks to Ray who was our host on the day!!
Here you go!!

We are looking for a stylist who can work with me on our next series of “I was late to the wedding shoots…” in 2011.
Next year has a special theme and we will be shooting 4 styled shoots. I loved styling the shoots in our last series but it’s pretty time consuming and I need some help. I have the concepts but I need someone to help ‘make it happen’
I am looking for someone who may have some connections within the industry and who is able to source all things wedding: Jewellery! Dresses! Shoes! Organise fittings and help out on the day of the shoots.
The shoots will all be taking place in winter 2011 so there is plenty of time to prep :)
They are all about bringing some creativity back into the world of weddings and having some fun. Everyone involved will receive copies of the images to use in their portfolio.
If you know of someone, tell them to contact me: angie@angelicapeady.com.au

PS Here’s a selection from the last series…

NOOOO!! This is the last in our series. Perhaps I’ve been holding off on this one because it would mean it really will be all over.
Ben and I have had an amazing time shooting this series and we have enjoyed the process of putting into print the ideas that have been running through our heads.
Next year we will create a smaller series and we hope they will be just as amazing. If you know of any wedding vendors who would like to be involved please ask them to get in contact with me. Can’t wait to get thinking creatively about these. This time I am looking for stylists, gown designers, jewellery designers, shoe designers and anything else that is wedding related – or perhaps you’ve seen something really quirky that would work well within our shoots? I’d love to hear from you.
Ok – back to our shoot – we call it “The Land of The Lost” for short and the story goes like this:
Olivia is having some bridal portraits done before she heads out to get married (as you do.) when all of a sudden she’s slipped through time and finds herself in an old world with prehistoric creatures and giant insects. She avoids getting stung by giant wasps, she escapes a giant lizard (who followed her scent for a long time, she sits still enough so a crocodile misses her and sneaks by a pair of tigers to wander back into her reality.
A big, BIG thanks to Olivia who was amazing and who was able to share our vision (even though she was probably thinking – what? you want me to pretend there’s a giant wasp chasing me????!!) Good sport Miss Olivia :) Oh and not to forget everyone else involved:
50′s Inspired Dress: Dolly Couture
Hair, Makeup and Accessories: The Leopard Lounge
Model: Olivia (available via contact through us)
Hope you enjoy
