Shar May and Brad met, she told me, after she ‘took a chance’ (love it!) and from that day on they’ve never looked back. So, when Brad romantically proposed in front of the Christmas light display in the Hunter Valley the wedding planning began!

Shar May and Brad are from Newcastle, New South Wales but when it came to planning their wedding they were quite certain they wanted something different and non-traditional. They could both agree that the location must an amazing destination with pretty scenery and they’d be surrounded by friends and family and have an amazing photographer (their words not mine! ).

So thats how we all found ourselves in Fiji!

We were delighted to be appointed by these love birds to shoot their big day, and the resulting wedding ticked all those boxes – a great crowd of friends and family, to-die-for tropical location and the Angelica Peady Phoptography team on hand to capture it all.

The Sheraton Resort Chapel which over looks the ocean provided a fabulous place for Brad and Shar May to tie the knot and the party then kicked on over to the Hard Rock Cafe, Denarau Island.

The island location was stunning, not quite as beautiful as the gorgeous bride – but together a handsome couple, blue skies, palm trees and the lapping South Pacific waters made for some great wedding images. We adopted our normal Angelica Peady wedding philosophy – a journalistic, quiet approach during the ceremony (to not detract from the intimate mood) and then when the formalities were over we headed outside for some formal and informal portraits. And lots of laughs and relaxed moments.

Um, February 14 already? How did that happen? I guess we’ve been lost on a blur of shoots and editing and new blog biz and now all of a sudden its Valentines Day. Wow!

So, Happy Valentines Day from us to you.

To celebrate this special day of lust and lovers we’ve compiled five of our favourite pash shots from the archives. Five couples who are blissfully, totally, head-over-heels smitten for one another that we were lucky enough to photograph.

For us, 2012 will be filled with love. We’ve dozens of wedding and engagement shoots booked in (although there’s still availability for me – contact us now!) and that means another year of capturing couples kissing, canoodling, holding hands and generally getting their smooch on in front of our camera. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

What a year! We have had an amazing time photographing some fabulous weddings and we feel so blessed that we do this for a living.

This year we have had quite a few firsts and hopefully there will be many more to come… here are just a few of our memorable moments:

we had fun in the storybook garden, in the hunter valley gardens

we photographed our first vegas wedding making sure we visited the Welcome to Las Vegas sign (the pic below shows a film clip being made in the background for DJ Bobo – remember him from the 80′s)

we photographed our first halloween wedding – which included a groom in a suit of armour!!!

a photography dream of ours, to photograph in st marys cathedral came true

we photographed our first wedding festival and got to stay until after midnight when all the wedding guests turned into fairys and wood nymphs. my favourite was that gnome… i just laugh every time i see him!!

You may recall Sarah & Mark’s Tasmanian wedding which we blogged here. Feedback on their beautiful day was that our blog readers wanted to see more of their amazing details. Sarah is fabulously creative and painstakingly designed the entire wedding herself including making many of the elements by hand. The attention to detail was incredible, every where we looked their was something gorgeous!

Rustic chic is a ‘theme’ that is a hot wedding trend right now. It incorporates an eclectic mishmash of country, vintage, hand-made and glamour – exactly what Sarah achieved with her wedding styling.

Here are our favourite elements from Sarah & Mark’s wedding:

• Sarah’s Mum sewed hundreds of metres (literally!) of the cute, vintage-inspired bunting that was used as a backdrop at the ceremony and also at the reception. (And if that wasn’t enough she also sewed the bridesmaids dresses and the handkerchiefs – read on…)
• The embroidered pocket hankies for the men in the bridal party – a lovely keep sake and highly practical should anyone shed a delighted tear!
• Mark’s Scrabble inspired cuff-links which were purchased here.
• Sarah’s custom wedding dress hanger featuring her new married name which was purchase here.
• The fabulous guest book alternative – a Jenga set for guests to write their name and message on! A work of art and entertainment for a rainy afternoon for years to come!
• The rustic table scape – jam jars, native picked blooms, rounds of wood, bottles, ribbons and lace-look doilies combined to create a rustic, earthy and warm display in the town hall.
• The menus – beautiful fonts, letter-press look printing atop custom cut table runners
• The corked initials – a fabulous flourish atop the fireplace – and an excuse for a pre-wedding tipple! That’s a lot of corks guys
• The golden lighting – the hall was adorned with hessian, strings of fairy lights and the glow of the flickering fire. The deliberate absence of any fluorescent light meant for a natural, romantic ambiance.

Congratulations Sarah on executing such an amazing wedding – and having time amongst all of this to be a bride! We loved your vision and committment to making your day truly special and you did it – it was! And without further ‘ado here are the images of all those lovely details…

Every little girl dreams of being walked down the aisle by her father and every father’s proudest moment is in escorting his baby to meet her husband on her big day. It’s just one of those special, sacred rituals that should be captured in beautiful images and celebrated long after the event is over.

At Angelica Peady Photography we love brides that are true to themselves – the funky bride, the vintage bride, the elegant slinky bride – you name it we have shot it – but no matter the style of the bride there’s one thing they all have in common… An emotional, proud and ‘just a little bit nervous’ father holding their hand for their last minutes as a Miss.
