Live music at a wedding is fabulous. FABULOUS!

Music adds a delicious, sensory depth to any celebration and live music brings a whole new dimension to different parts of a wedding day. For goose-bumpy, swoon-worthy ceremony’s live music creates memorable, intimate moments be it a sole guitarist, a string quartet, piper or soloist singer. For a ‘get down and really party’ reception a band adds the wow factor and your guests will love the surprise of real, live music.

If you are a regular follower of the Angelica Peady Photography blog you’ll know we’ve been in print on many occasions. But if I’m honest I have to admit that the thrill of seeing my images in a magazine never wanes. It’s still a rush to run into the newsagent, scour the shelves, pull the title and then madly flick until you see your pictures staring back at you in wonderful, published glory.

And that’s just what I did when I knew we had not one but two weddings in Cosmo Bride’s ‘Best Real Weddings of 2012′ issue.

You may recall these two couples – Jodi & Sam and Stella & Paul. They both had gorgeous, distinctive weddings with bold colours, fabulous details and lots and lots of love. And my team and I were the lucky peeps that got to capture their weddings in images.

Sometimes as photographer’s we get the chance to hang out with other photographers. At this particular catch up we met at Studio 501, a great photographic studio right in the heart of the city. We were so lucky to have a stylist by the name of Viktoria Novak put together a few different looks along with the help of makeup artists from Reelfx and hair by Roxanne Cahill - we ended up with some amazing looks!!

I managed to duck outside with a couple of other photographers and shoot the lovely Doni outside in some natural light. Here are some of my favourites…

That first dance as a married couple can be a nerve-racking thing. Lots of men don’t like to dance, lots of couples don’t know how to dance and most people don’t enjoy being the only people on the dance floor with a few hundred eyes upon them!

What we’ve realised as wedding photographers is that you don’t have to be good dancers to make the ‘first dance’ a beautiful thing. You’ve just got to set those nerves aside and put your heart into it. Choose a song that means something and pretend you are the only people in the room. Or let your hair down and just get your silly but fun groove on. Because genuine emotions – be it laughter, tears or a bit of both – will be so embraced by your guests, much more so than a choreographed episode of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ or a painfully awkward shuffle.

You don’t have to be good. Just get into the moment 200% – that’s what counts.

If you really can’t stand the thought of a whole 3 and a bit minutes of stardom, a little trick that solves this is to have a single minute on your own as a couple and then ask your MC to ‘invite’ the rest of the bridal party to join you. All of a sudden this seems less like torture and more fun!

Jinny and Matt travelled all the way from Perth for their amazing Blue Mountains wedding. Yes, it’s a loooong way but who’s to argue with a bride and groom’s ‘vision’ for their perfect ‘big day’? Jinny and Matt have previously fallen in love with Blackheath and it’s scenic bushland and felt that a local eco lodge would be the perfect, intimate place to tie the knot.

The original plan was to take advantage of the picturesque locations that the Blue Mountains offers – the tracks and lookouts and amazing cliff top views but mother nature had other ideas for us! Luckily even on her greyest day Blackheath’s moody skies and misty moments make for amazing pictures – as long as the bride and groom have an umbrella or two!

Jemby Rinjah (Eco Lodge) was truly romantic. While the rain persistently drizzled outside golden fireplaces, a host of family and friends and one very loved up couple (and their two gorgeous kidlets) made for a beautiful wedding. Jinny and Matt are just a delightful couple and the wedding celebrated their love, their story and their family life together. Perfect!

The gorgeous bride wore Gallery Serpentine and carried a bouquet of paper flowers that she made herself. Hair and make up was provided by Agents of Beauty.A striking crimson inset gown contrasted with the earthy tones of the Mountain landscapes so when we finally ventured outside the scene was set for fabulous images…

Sam & Gloria’s steampunk inspired wedding has been one of our most talked about – and asked about – weddings in the history of the Angelica Peady Photography blog. We can’t say this is a surprise, it was truly an amazing celebration and absolutely one of the most unique, beautifully detailed and themed weddings we’ve ever witnessed.

By popular demand, I’m delighted to re-visit this fabulous festival of all things quirky and cool with you with many more images that highlight all the special pieces that made this wedding bespoke – and even better the planner extroadianers, the bride and groom themselves have shared all their supplier details…

Without further ado, here they are…

• The Groom: Sam’s attire – Coachman’s hat, vest, shirt pants and coat from Clockwork Couture. Designer was Lip Service from their ‘Step in Time’ collection.
• The Bride: Gloria’s attire – Corset & bustle skirt by Jayni Lovechild of Lovechild Boudoir. Wedding gown & Petticoat by Rebecca George of Canberra (ACT). Cuffs by Inbal Arditi of My Secret Face (Etsy Store). Walking hat by Christina Clap of Cancan Couture (Etsy Store).
• The cake was designed by the groom and made by Rebecca Moffatt, Canberra ACT. The cake topper came from the Forgotten Robots (Etsy Store).
• Floral design including bouquets and reception flowers was by Chiho Kobayashi of Chiho Kobayashi Flowers, Ermington NSW.
• The vases & silverware belonged to bride and groom (and their families) – additional pieces were sourced from antique stores around Sydney and Toowoomba.
• Boutonniere was originally hair pins that the bride further embellished. Original item purchased from Antickquities (Etsy Store).
• Bonbonerie: Custom tea bags designed by the groom and sewn by the bride.

What is it that’s so sexy about cherry motifs? I just don’t know but teemed with red lipstick and a hint of lace Teegan is one delicious, sultry woman.
